Article marketing is a dynamic content marketing technique that generates traffic to your blog. When done correctly it will turn your blog into a highway – think Alexa rating of 50000.
Why is SEO important for article marketing?
SEO perfected equals free traffic. And lots of it. The first page of a Google search for a specific keyword spells dollar signs for any online marketer. More people click on the first seven positions of a search engine results page than any other position, including pay per click advertising.
The bottom line is this: your blog can create network marketing leads for your home business, but you need traffic. Internet traffic does not come cheap. 97% of network marketers run out of money before they refine the art of creating enough traffic to turn their blog into a lead generation tool.
Using your blog and your article marketing techniques together and in sync can create an explosion in traffic if you play according to Google’s rules and you do proper keyword research.
The keywords typed in by the searcher drives the information searched and found on Google. You want network marketing entrepreneurs to find you if they look for assistance, tips and relevant information in the network marketing field. Get SEO wrong and no one will find your site if they look for relevant information on the internet.
5 horrible mistakes:
These five SEO mistakes will be boulders in your path to article marketing success. Get them right and you will have a paved path.
1. Keyword stuffing
Keyword stuffing is the overuse of the keywords that identify the content in your website. The psychology behind keyword stuffing is the “hope’ that adding more keywords will let you rank for those keywords. Google is a step ahead and you will not rank for a keyword for doing that, it appears spammy.
Do not overuse keywords in your title, your tags and also not in the article body. Use focused and relevant keywords.
2. Missing keywords
It is totally insane to write a good article for your blog and then not adding any relevant keywords. Even worse are having no keywords at all. With no keywords your article will disappear in the internet abyss of “no one will ever read this”. If the keyword listed is not in line with the article content, Google views it as “rubbish” and it will not rank high.
Google reads left to right. Get your keyword that you are targeting in the first one or two words of your title and your description.
Get 5-10 variations of your target keyword and complete your keyword field in your wordpress settings.
3. Missing descriptions
Make sure you add a description for every article (in wordpress under settings). This description is not available for viewers, but it is viewed and used by Google.
If your description is missing for a blog page the search engines will either pick anything off your page as a description or they do not know how to rank your site – creating confusion and low ranking.
Descriptions must be relevant, not too long, and include the keyword/s you want to go after. Good descriptions result in better rankings and click through rates.
4. Simple anchor text
The anchor text in the bio box of a submitted article must be relevant to your article and it must contain the keywords that you want to rank for. This ensures a massive amount of back links to your blog on the keyword you are targeting.
5. Title tags
Make sure the title of the page reflect the keyword. Do this by firstly doing keyword research, selecting a keyword you want to rank for and making sure that keyword features within the first three words of your title. Then make sure you enter the title in the title tags under the settings in Wordpress.
Title tags not reflecting any keywords will not rank high for anything.
Avoid these SEO mistakes and you will be overwhelmed with the increase in your blog traffic.
